Cycling & Walking Holidays in Spain

Adventures in Unique Destinations

Spain has been a favourite of holidaymakers for many years, and with good reason - fantastic beaches, a wonderful climate and stunning scenery. It also conjures up many different images, of Flamenco dancers, Tapas bars, Moorish castles and matadors with sweat on their brows.

Toro Blanco's cycling holiday team will help you discover Andalucía on two wheels. Our cycling holidays in this beautiful region of Spain will guide you through amazing scenery to explore the incredible beauty of hilltop towns, dramatic mountains and huge descents.

Andalucía has a rich and varied history which can be seen in the many styles of architecture and numerous monuments, some of which we will visit along the cycle route and include the Unesco World Heritage site the “Alhambra Palace” in Granada and the incredible “Caminito del Rey” near Malaga.

These are eight days of cycling, walking and discovering that we hope will remain as happy memories for many years to come.

At Toro Blanco, we strive to provide you with the highest level of guided cycling and walking with this holiday

FAQ: When is the best time to take a cycling trip to Spain? There is never a bad time for cycling holidays in Spain. In terms of road cycling holidays Spain should be regarded as a four-season cycling country because you can always find pleasant cycling conditions whatever the time of year. However, the southern and eastern regions such as Andalucia are probably best enjoyed between September and June, when the temperatures are moderate and the roads will be less crowded. How difficult is a cycling trip to Spain? Active cycling holidays in Alhambra Palace, Andalucia, Granada, Malaga and Sierra Nevada are popular for a reason. Spain has excellent cycling infrastructure as well as a varied landscape that offers all kinds of exciting cycling terrain. The climate too tends to deliver benign cycling conditions. You can certainly challenge yourself on a cycling holiday in Spain, but you are assured of a very satisfying trip. Is cycling in Spain suitable for solo travellers? There is no reason why you cannot take your Spanish cycling holiday by yourself, but we believe these experiences are always more enjoyable in a group. When you join one of our guided cycling tours in Spain, you can benefit not only companionship, you also get the benefit of our experienced and knowledgeable guides who can help you to discover experiences you might not find on your own. Single travellers are more than welcome with us, and you will not have to share a room with any other guests. Why should a cyclist go there? Cycling holidays in Spain are very popular for a reason. Spain offers spectacular landscapes to cycle through with some of the best climbs and most exhilarating descents to be found anywhere in Europe. Spain also has a very cycling friendly culture so you will find travelling on two wheels here a very agreeable experience – and of course whenever you stop you will find great food and friendly service. Why would you go anywhere else? What are the epic routes that you can ride in Spain? Cycling holidays in Spain give you a chance to cycle a huge array of epic routes. For example, the “Silver Route” (Ruta de la Plata) following the Roman road from Seville to Gijón. You may also know the Vía Verde (de la Sierra), a greenway that follows an old railway line through the mountains of Cádiz and Seville provinces, offering spectacular views of the landscape and wildlife. You may be spoilt for choice, but our local guides and fitness experts will handpick the best routes for your holiday, so you can leave the planning in our safe hands. Should I book Spain tour tickets in advance? Guided cycling holidays in Spain are very popular and places are limited. We always recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. What are the biggest challenges? From a cycling perspective, the climbs pose the most significant challenges, and Spain offers an abundance of them. The country boasts a diverse range of terrain that presents thrilling uphill battles for riders. However, when the cycling experience is as exceptional as it is in Spain, the greatest challenge you're likely to encounter is saying goodbye and departing for home. What are your tips for those cycling in Spain for the first time? We would normally say “do some research and planning before you go”, and that is still a top tip. If you join us for guided cycling tours of Spain, however, you can benefit from our guides’ expert local knowledge and save yourself some of that research time. Pack smart, bring enough clothing and protection for different weather conditions, but do not carry more than you need. Finally, pace yourself, enjoy the ride and remember to take pictures and share your experience with others.
